The HonFest Story: A Journey into the Heart of Traditions

HonFest was born from a passion for living cultural heritage and the conviction that traditional festivals are the backbone of community identity. In 2018, a small group of researchers and cultural enthusiasts laid the foundations for this educational project, with the aim of documenting and analyzing the evolution of festive events in Romania and beyond. Our first step was creating a database of over 50 local festivals, followed by publishing the first case studies.

Over the years, we have expanded our scope of action through partnerships with universities, museums, and cultural associations. We launched the online platform for interactive lessons, organized the first community workshops, and were recognized for our contribution to preserving intangible heritage. Today, HonFest is a trusted educational resource that continues to explore how traditions shape our collective present and future.
